There is a limit to 3 boxes per person per week. If you have more than 3 boxes, please email or call before coming into the library.

We do not pick up donations, however, if you have mobility issues and have trouble making it into the library, we may be able to accommodate you. Please call us at (269) 629-9085.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Donations to a public, non-profile service such as a library may be tax deductible. Find out more information at https://www.irs.gov/publications/p561.

Receipts for donations available upon request.

What happens to my donation?

Once materials have been donated to the library, our collection specialists pull any titles that they deem fit to put into our lending collection. This is based upon the projected interest level of our patron base, collection development regulations, and condition of the material.

After this, remaining items that are in good condition and fit the above parameters are given to our Friends of the Library group to sell. The sales from these books are then donated back to the library to help with large item purchases and programming.

Any remaining materials that do not fit the condition for sale (see above) are disposed of (recycled if possible).

What if I have an item that I wish to donate specifically to the library’s collection?

If you have materials that you specifically want added into our circulating collection, please see Section 4 of our Policy Manual*. These items may be taken on an individual bases and not by the box-load.
