About the Artist

"I’m a lifelong resident of the Battle Creek area. I’ve been making images in some form since childhood, via drawing, painting, and photography. I’ve taken art classes and workshops through Kellogg Community College and the Art Center of Battle Creek but am otherwise largely self-taught. I worked in the art supply and picture framing industry for a number of years and owned a retail art supply store in the 1990s thru early 2000s. I have been involved in area arts organizations for many years, with roles on the board of directors of the Art Center of Battle Creek, and past president of the Battle Creek Society of Artists.

My recent work includes paintings of my local landscape as well as other Michigan-themed works; western landscapes; and abstract paintings inspired by natural forms. I prefer to paint in acrylic due to its durability, fast drying time and ease of working without solvents."      - Ron Holder, Artist
